April
22nd-27th
2009
Place: Fabbrica del Vapore,
Milan.
On the occasion of the Fuori Salone 2009 Laboratorio DAGAD
supported by ANAB (National Association of Bio ecological
Architecture), presented the second appointment with the UMUL initiative (Use More,
Use Less), a standing workshop on reuse in design which it had been launched
during the Salone del Mobile 2008. This exhibition is one in 18 events, attended by over 10,000 people, at La
Fabbrica del Vapore in
Milan from April 22th to 27th.
Laboratorio DAGAD proposed a revaluation of reuse in the design
field. It is aimed to leave behind the connotation of poor quality,
which reusing had because of a handcraft approach.
With the patronage of companies leader in this sector (LAMM, LIUNI, SEVES, TREND, UNIVERSAL
SELECTA, ZONCA), young designers
and architects worked on innovative projects of reuse characterised by quality and skill usually expressed in the "hand-list" production of companies.
Laboratorio DAGAD presented the prototypes of projects which were
had been created during the workshop. At the same time, an exhibition showed
the state of art of reusing at international level through examples
of high formal, aesthetic and functional quality.

April
16th-21st 2008
Place:
Fabbrica del vapore, Milan
A project, with ANAB, National Association
of Bio-ecological Architecture, on the reuse theme aimed to underline
the higher environmental value of reusing instead of that of
recycling and reinterpret the trilogy which lies on the basis of
eco-design: re-use, re-think e re-valuate. Its purpose was to achieve as
a result a product with the same level of quality, functionality and
aesthetics as the original object.
The project consisted of two stages.
First, several objects from all over the world which already had the
formerly mentioned criteria were presented. Then, a workshop was developed for one year with the collaboration of companies and
designers.
The Salone 2009 showed the result with
an exhibition of the prototypes which had been created according to the project's
criteria.

From
20th al 23rd April 2007
Place:
Fabbrica del Vapore, Laboratorio DAGAD
Ten masterpieces of Italian modern design
were analysed according to sustainability principles.
With the collaboration of ANAB,
the Italian Association of Bio ecological Architecture, Laboratorio DAGAD
specifically created a ten-point valuation criteria in order to evaluate
these important design objects
in relation to their sustainability.
Characteristics such as durability,
lightness, ease of being disassembled and energy consumption for their
production are interesting to see how these objects, mostly designed
when sustainability wasn't yet crucial for design, deal with an issue which could set their success.
In some cases we discovered that the
good old design of fifty years ago was
more sustainable than today's
one.

Posti di vista 06: DAGAD PAVILION
April
5th-10th
2006
Place:
Fabbrica del Vapore, Laboratorio DAGAD
On occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2006, Laboratorio DAGAD
opened a pavilion for exhibitions, workshops, conferences and other
cultural activities mostly related to architecture and design. The
pavilion was based on the concept
and the coordination of Mauricio Cardenas and Paolo Righetti, with the collaboration
of Maurizio Tetora of Arup Italia for
all the materials.
The pavilion was made of bamboo, steel and a transparent cover.
Its
innovative and modern connotation is represented with the use of different materials
and with an experimental approach.
