Standing activity
Place: Laboratorio DAGAD
Collecting data and census of the most important Italian
design structures.
While our critic census activity (started in 2002)
continues, whose result is a selection of the most important
contemporary Italian architects (more than 600 among
professionals, studios and companies), we moved into our
new headquarter located in "La Fabbrica del Vapore". Then we requested all the
documentation and filed it into digital format with a brief description
of the job that each office has done.
We selected a limited number of images
from each studio, in order to list the 500 most important projects
of Italian architecture in the last five years. A unitary collection of
architecture exhibitions, videos and publications.
Our goal is two-fold. On one hand our research
gives an overview of contemporary Italian architecture and on
the other hand it is a useful tool of comparison with other countries.

Posti di
vista 09: UMUL, USE MORE - USE LESS
On the occasion of the Fuori Salone 2009 Laboratorio DAGAD
supported by ANAB (National Association of Bio-ecological
Architecture), presents the second appointment of the UMUL
project (Use More,
Use Less) a standing workshop on reuse in design, launched
during the Salone del Mobile 2008. This exhibition represented one in
18 events, visited by over 10,000 people, at La Fabbrica del Vapore in
Milan from April 22th to 27th.
Laboratorio DAGAD proposed a revaluation of the reuse in the design
field. It is aimed to leave behind the connotation of poor quality,
which reusing had because of a handcraft approach.
With the patronage of companies, leader in this sector (LAMM, LIUNI, SEVES, TREND, UNIVERSAL
SELECTA, ZONCA), young designers
and architects worked on innovative projects of reuse
, characterised by quality and skill usually expressed in the "hand-list" production of companies.
Laboratorio DAGAD presented the prototypes of projects that had been
created during the workshop. At the same time, an exhibition showed
the state of art of reusing at international level through examples
of high formal, aesthetic and functional quality.

Posti di vista 08: USE MORE - USE LESS, PIU' USI - MENO USI
A project, with ANAB, National Association
of Bio-ecological Architecture,
on the reuse theme aimed to underline the higher environmental
value of reusing instead of that of recycling and reinterpret
the trilogy which lies on the basis of eco-design: re-use,
re-think e re-valuate. Its purpose is to have as a result a product with the same
level of quality, functionality and aesthetics as the original object.
The project consists of two stages. First,
several objects from all over the world already designed according to
the former criteria will be presented. Second, a workshop will be
developed for one year with the collaboration of companies and
designers.
The Salone 2009 showed the result with
an exhibition of the prototypes created according to the project's
criteria.

April 20th-23rd 2007
Place: Laboratorio DAGAD
Posti di vista 07: 10X10
Ten masterpieces of the Italian modern design
were analysed according to sustainability principles.
With the collaboration of ANAB,
the Italian Association of Bioecological Architecture, Laboratorio DAGAD
specifically created a ten-point valuation criteria in order to evaluate
these important design objects
in relation to their sustainability.
Characteristics such as durability,
lightness, ease of being disassembled and energy consumption for its
production are interesting to see how these objects, mostly designed when sustainability
wasn't yet crucial for design,
deal with a theme which could set their success.
In some cases we discovered that the
good old design of fifty years ago was
more sustainable than today's.
